Campus Ghost is an anonymous, college-focused social platform and review community. It lets people participate through a public Ghost ID and Ghost Persona, browse and follow colleges, publish college-tagged posts, reviews, questions, confessions and stories, receive notifications, and contact our Support Center. This Privacy Policy explains how Campus Ghost collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects personal data when you use the Service, including our website, applications, support channels, and related features. It also explains the choices and rights available to you. Public anonymity is central to Campus Ghost. Your Ghost ID is designed to separate your public activity from your real-world identity. That does not mean the Service collects no data, that content cannot be moderated, or that we can ignore lawful requests. Please read this policy carefully before using the Service. At a glance: • What is public: your Ghost ID and the content or profile details you choose to publish. • What is not public by default: your account email, phone number, internal account identifiers, technical logs, reports, support messages, and moderation records. • Your controls: you can manage your profile, content, followed colleges, and notifications in the Service, and can contact us to exercise applicable privacy rights. • Our approach: we use limited data to run the Service, protect the community, respond to support requests, and meet legal obligations.

Personal data means data about an individual who is identifiable by or in relation to that data. It can include direct identifiers, technical identifiers, or combinations of information. Ghost ID means the public identifier we assign or allow you to select for use on Campus Ghost. It is not intended to reveal your legal name, email address, or phone number. Ghost Persona means the public-facing profile and activity associated with a Ghost ID, such as display name, avatar, bio, posts, comments, reviews, reactions, and followed colleges. User Content means material you submit or make available through the Service, including posts, reviews, confessions, stories, comments, reports, and support requests. This policy applies to personal data processed when you use the Service. It does not govern third-party websites, services, or apps.

Campus Ghost is not a platform for doxxing or revealing another person’s identity. By default, other users see your Ghost ID and the content or profile details you choose to make public. They should not see your account email address, phone number, device identifiers, login records, internal moderation records, or support communications. However, to operate a safe, reliable, and legally compliant service, we keep limited information associated with an account or activity, such as credentials, technical/security data, reports, enforcement history, and support requests. You remain responsible for what you disclose. Do not include real names, contact info, government identifiers, student IDs, or sensitive details in public posts.

5.1 Data You Provide Directly • Account & authentication data: email address, mobile number, password hash, verification codes, account settings. • Profile & Ghost Persona data: Ghost ID, display name, avatar, bio, college affiliation, course info. • User Content: posts, college tags, reviews/ratings, confessions, comments, stories, media. • Follows & preferences: colleges, topics, notification choices, blocks, mutes. • Moderation data: reported content, reasons, screenshots, appeals. • Support & verification data: messages, attachments, support requests, and optional verification data. 5.2 Data Collected Automatically • Device & log data: IP address, device IDs, browser type, OS, app version, crash logs, dates and times of access. • Usage data: feature interactions, searches, clicks, posts viewed, session diagnostics. • Approximate location: derived from IP address (country, state, city). • Cookies & local storage: used for authentication, security, preferences, and analytics. 5.3 Data from Third Parties • Reports from other users, authentication/security providers, app stores, or legal authorities. We do not buy data to identify anonymous users.

We process personal data to: • Create, authenticate, administer, and secure accounts and Ghost Personas. • Provide the Service: publish User Content under a Ghost ID, display college-tagged content, deliver stories and notifications. • Maintain safety: investigate reports, detect spam/fraud/abuse, enforce Terms and Guidelines, and protect users. • Respond to support requests, privacy inquiries, and appeals. • Troubleshoot, analyze, test, and improve platform performance. • Send essential service, security, policy, and moderation notices. • Comply with applicable laws and legal processes. We do not use public Ghost Persona activity to reveal your identity to other users or perform automated profiling producing legal effects without safeguards.

7.1 What May Be Public: Content submitted to public surfaces (Ghost ID, posts, reviews, ratings, comments, confessions, stories, tags) is visible to other users. 7.2 Reviews & Confessions: Reviews and confessions can create privacy and reputational risks. Do not publish personal data, confidential info, unverified allegations, or intimate media. Inappropriate content may be removed or moderated. 7.3 Content Deletion: Deleting content removes it from user-facing surfaces. Residual copies may persist in backups, audit logs, or legal archives for specified periods.

We send essential account/security alerts, updates about followed colleges/posts, support/moderation notices, and opt-in promotional messages. You can manage push notifications in your device/app settings and unsubscribe from promotional emails.

We enforce Terms and Guidelines using user reports, automated tools, and trained reviewers. To protect the platform, we maintain access-controlled admin audit logs recording administrative actions, dates/times, user/content IDs, and reasons. Appeals can be submitted at https://support.campusghost.in. We preserve data when required for investigations, safety, or legal duties.

We do not sell personal data for money. • With Other Users: public User Content and Ghost Persona info only. • With Service Providers: cloud hosting, authentication, security, analytics, support, and payment providers under strict contracts. • Affiliates & Business Transfers: during mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales. • For Law & Safety: to comply with valid legal processes, court orders, or to protect user safety and platform integrity.

• No Targeted Advertising: Campus Ghost does not use personal data for targeted advertising. • De-Identified Information: We create aggregated, statistical, or de-identified data for research, safety, and operational improvement without attempting re-identification.

• Account Data: retained while active; deleted or anonymized within 30 days after verified deletion request. • Public Content: retained until deleted by you or removed by moderation. • Stories: removed from ordinary display after expiration period. • Reports & Audit Logs: retained for 18 days or longer where necessary for safety, repeat-offender tracking, or legal obligations. • Technical & Security Logs: retained for 18 days or as required by law.

We employ TLS 1.3 encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing with per-user salts, credential protections, isolated database storage for verification emails, access controls, and incident response procedures. Report suspected compromises immediately to campusghost.official@gmail.com.

You may request access, correction, updating, or erasure of personal data, request account deletion, withdraw consent, or manage notification settings. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act, 2023), you may also raise grievances or contact our Privacy Officer at campusghost.official@gmail.com.

Campus Ghost is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 to use the Service. If we learn that we have processed a child's personal data contrary to applicable law, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Personal data is processed primarily in India and by cloud infrastructure providers globally. We apply appropriate safeguards and comply with Indian law restrictions regarding international transfers.

Campus Ghost complies with obligations under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. Designated Grievance Officer details are maintained at https://support.campusghost.in.

The Service may contain links to third-party sites, college portals, or app stores. Their privacy practices are governed independently by their own policies.

Material updates will be communicated through the platform, email, or support channels prior to taking effect. Effective date: August 15, 2026. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acknowledgment.
